Rapid Response Mini-Grants

** Grant Cycle Will Close October 15th**

SPROUT is administering these grants in partnership with the Louisiana Small Scale Agriculture Coalition. These grants are made possible by the David and Lucille Packard Foundation, and we thank them for their willingness to help underserved farmers in Louisiana adapt to the Climate Crisis.

The immense need Louisiana farmers have will not be able to be addressed with this small fund, but we hope to ease some of the burdens of a very difficult summer.

Louisiana Small Scale Agriculture Coalition is comprised of BREADA, Louisiana Central, Shreveport Green, Acadiana Food Alliance, Market Umbrella, New Orleans FPAC, and SPROUT.

Grants are for farmers who actively distribute or sell food beyond their homestead/farm. This can include a demonstrated record of extensive free food distribution but does not include community gardens at this time, with a lot of love for community gardens!

First Annual Climate Gathering-January 21 & 22nd, Ville Platte Louisiana

SEE EVENT PROGRAM

From storms to droughts, Louisiana Farmers are on the front line of climate change in The United States.

For the first time, as a direct response to farmer’s requests, the Louisiana Small Scale Agriculture Coalition is hosting a climate convening.

Join us for two days:

one day focused on the technical, brass-tacks aspects of climate adaptation like variety selection, governmental programs, crop loss and insurance, etc (January 22nd)

AND

one day focused on the community aspects of climate change like localized food systems, mental and physical health for farmers, community growing projects and more. (January 21st)

Some lodging and travel stipends will be available. More information at the convening!
